The National Institute for Women, through the General Directorate of Mainstreaming of Gender Perspective, has developed this site to provide you with information about human trafficking.

  • There is a global business in which people are bought and sold;
  • Women, men, girls, boys and adolescents are sexually exploited and used in forced labor, servitude, and servile marriages;
  • Many of today’s human trafficking victims, were lured by people they knew before, such as a: boyfriend/girlfriend, friend, relative;
  • You could become a victim of human trafficking;
  • There are many actions we can take to protect ourselves and our beloved ones;
  • From the moment you started this reading, someone like you has been lured and has become a victim of human trafficking: from this moment on, from now on, his/her value as human being will be determined by the profit his/her exploiter can make from that person.

 

WHAT IS HUMAN TRAFFICKING?

It is the trading of human beings, where the value of persons is degraded by equating them with merchandise. As we know, exploitation has been present along the history of humankind and nowadays we are still not exempt of this problem.
